The mandate of the Online Critical Pseudepigrapha (OCP) is to develop and publish electronic editions of the best critical texts of the Jewish and Christian Pseudepigrapha and related Hellenistic Jewish literature, complete with full manuscript variants and textual witnesses.

About the Online Critical Pseudepigrapha

The Online Critical Pseudepigrapha was established to meet the scholarly need for versatile, electronically formatted critical editions of extra-biblical early Jewish and Christian literature. Unlike print editions, OCP was constructed from the ground up as a multi-witness textual repository capable of representing complex variant apparatus, translation versions, and linguistic annotations.

Each edition is encoded in structured TEI-compatible XML, recording individual textual units, readings, and assigned manuscript sigla.

The DTS Transition & Future Platform

The original Web2Py-based server platform is now decommissioned. The editorial team is working towards publishing the OCP repository via a modern Distributed Text Services (DTS) compliant API integrated with Knowledge Commons Works (based on InvenioRDM).

This upcoming platform will provide automated TEI ingestion, standardized DTS navigation endpoints (Collections, Navigation, and Documents APIs), and an embedded reader component for seamless integration across digital humanities tools.
